Pathfinder 2e Beginner Box Review and Giveaway!

If you’re curious about Pathfinder Second Edition and want to know if the Beginner Box is a good entry point, here are my thoughts:

The Pathfinder 2e Beginner Box is a fantastic gateway into the system, especially if you’re coming from D&D 5e and want something fresh. Unlike some starter sets, the Beginner Box doesn’t “dumb down” the rules—it’s a streamlined way to learn the real system. Everything here connects directly to the full rules, so there’s no wasted effort.

What I love most? The Pathfinder Pawns—cardstock minis that work for tons of games and save you money on buying expensive miniatures. Plus, the color-coded dice in the box are a simple but genius touch for newcomers: red d20, yellow d12, and so on. It’s a small tweak that makes learning the dice so much easier for first-time players.

The included adventure, Menace Under Otari, looks solid and covers all the basics, from combat to exploration. I haven’t run it yet myself, but the presentation is clear, the notes are helpful, and everything you need is in the box. And there’s a full flip map and well-designed pre-generated characters that are perfect for getting new players started.

What stands out most is how this box set isn’t just for those first few games. The pawns, map, and dice will be useful well beyond level three, making it a solid investment if you’re looking to ease yourself or new players into the hobby.

As I mentioned in the video, I’m giving away the copy I reviewed—just drop a comment with golariangeek and subscribe to be entered if you’re in North America.
