You Are Welcome Here!
We’ve been seeing a lot of new faces around the channel lately, so I wanted to take a moment to pause the regular programming and say, well, welcome! I’m Brian, and this is Geek Philosophy—where we’re all about sharing stories, ideas, and insights from the world of tabletop role-playing games.
For those who’ve been here since the beginning, don’t worry—nothing’s changing at the core of what we do. But for all of you who’ve joined us more recently, I wanted to share what this space is really about.
Like many of you, my love for RPGs goes back to childhood. I remember the early days of playing AD&D and Second Edition, back when role-playing wasn’t quite the mainstream hobby it is today. I stuck with it through the decades, and now I’m primarily playing and running 5e—although I love other systems too.
What you’ll find here is a blend of tips and ideas for new players and GMs—because I think the best way to grow this hobby is to support the folks just finding their feet. But it’s not just about beginners: my hope is that everyone can find something useful or inspiring in our discussions, regardless of how long you’ve been playing.
I don’t believe in gatekeeping. I don’t think the hobby has to be exclusive or divided along game lines. Whether you’re playing 5e, Pathfinder, Blades in the Dark, or a game of your own invention—this is a space for you.
And because kids and families are such an important part of my journey, you’ll also see content here that focuses on introducing RPGs to kids, plus resources like the Guardians of Getica sub-setting for family-friendly campaigns.
Above all, I want this community to be as inclusive and welcoming as possible. I hope you’ll join the conversation—share your ideas, your favorite games, and your geeky wisdom. I’m always learning from everyone who comments and connects here, and I want to keep that going.
I know that’s a lot of words about what we’re doing here, but the real heart of it is simple: you’re welcome here. Let’s keep playing, keep sharing, and keep the campaign going—together.
I’d usually leave you with a geek philosophy quote, but this time, I want to hear from you: what’s your favorite piece of geeky wisdom? Drop it in the comments.
Cheers,
Brian
